  • National Electrical Code (NEC) or NFPA 70: A part of the National Fire Protection Association's National Fire Codes series, the NEC has been adopted in all 50 states though individual jurisdictions may omit or modify certain sections or add their own requirements. The NEC lists the NFPA's basic minimum safety requirements for electrical wiring and equipment.
